10am to 1pm, One-on-One Medicare Counseling & Assistance Register here for a 30-minute phone appointment to speak with a Suffolk County RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) representative from HIICAP (Health Insurance Information, Counseling & Assistance Program) to answer questions and provide information specific to your own needs regarding Medicare health insurance and benefits, Medicare Savings Programs and EPIC. 4pm, Dementia Conversations Driving, Doctor Visits, Legal & Financial Planning When someone is showing signs of dementia, it’s time to talk. Often, conversations with family about changing behaviors can be challenging and uncomfortable. This program provides tips for breaking the ice with your family so you can address some of the most common issues that are difficult to discuss: going to the doctor for a diagnosis or medical treatment, deciding when to stop driving, and making legal and financial plans for future care. 6pm, Learn to Be Tobacco Free Suffolk County’s smoking cessation program provides behavior modification and supportive pharmaceuticals to medically eligible participants. All cessation groups and programs are supervised by a nurse practitioner and services are provided to residents at no cost. Program participants also receive personalized follow-up. All Day, Weekend Warriors Community Service Kit Each Friday (December 10- February 25)There will be a limited supply of Take & Make kits available for teens to pick up. Follow the directions inside the bag, complete the project on your own time, and return the completed project for volunteer credit. Maximum of two kits per week, per teen, while supplies last.
