9:30am, SCBE Public Meeting Notice is hereby given that the Suffolk County Board of Ethics will convene a public meeting in accordance with the provisions of the Governor’s Executive Order 202.1. Pursuant to the Citizens Participation Act, all interested persons are invited to submit testimony, either orally or in writing, at the meeting. 1pm, To Sweat or Not to Sweat: Deodorants and Antiperspirants in the United States This presentation will discuss the origin and growth of the deodorant industry in the United States and explore how companies combined messages about appropriate femininity with medical knowledge. Presented by Cari Casteel, Clinical Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo. She is currently drafting a manuscript on the social and cultural history of deodorant. Click here to register. Thursday, September 2

9am – 12pm, COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic H. Lee Dennison Building, 100 Veterans Memorial Highway. Hauppauge. Vaccine: Pfizer. Everyone 12 years and older is eligible. Third doses for immunocompromised individuals are available at this clinic. No appointment is needed, however those with appointments will have priority. To make an appointment, click here or call 311. Bring identification. Children ages 12-17 should be accompanied by a parent or should bring completed consent form. Medical practitioners and emergency medical practitioners will be on-site at all times at each clinic to answer any questions and tend to any needs or concerns.

On-going: Teen Virtual Community Service Projects Available The Hauppauge Public Library has multiple, on-going, teen virtual community service projects available for students in Grades 6-12. No registration required. 10:30am, Pond Exploration: Caleb Smith State Park Preserve There’s more to Willow Pond than meets the eye! Below the surface of the water lives a vibrant ecosystem. Join us for a pond scoop, where will get a close up and hands on look at some of the tiny creatures that make their home under that water. Reservations are required: 631-265-1054. Space is limited. If you are unable to keep your reservation, please cancel so others may have the opportunity to attend. $4 per person, cash only.

10:30am, Migrating Monarchs at Sunken Meadow State Park This is the time of year when Monarch butterflies are making their way south. They make this one-way journey along our East coast shore line, heading to the forests of Mexico. Their descendants will make the return journey back up next year. 12:30pm, SAT Prep Small Group Instruction (4 occurrences), In-person, Classroom D. Attend these classes to prepare for upcoming SAT tests. 1pm, Clubhouse Tour at Connetquot River State Park Preserve Step back in time as you tour the Main House of the South Side Sportsmen’s Club. A docent will discuss the history of the tavern and the high society Sportsmen’s Club, which shaped Connetquot River State Park Preserve into what it is today.
