All Day, Pick Up of Teen Take & Make Community Service Kit: Fall Decorating Volunteer Project Create easy decorations of leaves to decorate the library for fall (1-hour service credit). 8:00pm, FREE Drive-In Movie Night: Nanny McPhee: Byron Lake Park, 50 Irish Lane, East Islip. The FREE series will run weekly through August, and will be hosted at various locations throughout the Town of Islip. Space is limited and is first come, first served. Gates open at 6:30pm. 11am – 1pm, FREE Summer Food Service Central Islip Library, in coordination with Island Harvest, is holding a FREE summer food service every Tuesday and Friday from 11-1pm for kids and teens under 18. The service will run until September 3rd. 33 Hawthorne Avenue, Central Islip, 631-234-9333.

6pm, Dinner Cruise on the Great South Bay The Town of Islip is happy to announce the return of sunset dinner cruises aboard the Lauren Kristy Paddleboat as it sails to Atlantique Beach, Fire Island. $60 for residents. $67 for non-residents. 1pm, In the Fog and Folly of War: Caricature and U.S. National Character Online The New York State Office of Cultural Education presents Chris Gilbert, Assistant Professor of English in the areas of Communication & Media at Assumption University. This author talk will provide a rundown of his recently published book ‘Caricature and National Character: The United States at War.’ He is the author of numerous articles and essays, most of which look at the role of humor in cultural politics. All Day, Mocktail Pick Up: Adult Summer Reading Club Stop by the library on Thursdays to pick up a new recipe and a little something special to make a custom literary-themed drink. You can also chat with library staff to discuss the books you are reading. Earn a raffle ticket for every book you read for a chance to win a weekly prize to a local business. 5pm, Mini Golf Join us for mini golf! This 9-hole golf game will be set up in the library parking lot (weather permitting) or indoors if it rains. 6:30pm, Tails and Tales with Jason’s Live Animals Join Jason as he tells a story about each of his real live creatures. Learn about frogs, bugs, reptiles, chinchillas, birds and more. Discover where they live, what they eat, when they sleep, and how they protect themselves. Laugh and sing with a surprise guest visitor at the end of the show.
