6:30pm, Soul Food Cooking Demo with Chara’s Kitchen Learn how to prepare traditional soul food to celebrate Juneteenth. Cheryl Grigg, chef of Bellport’s soul food restaurant Chara’s  will demonstrate how to make fried chicken, mac & cheese, and greens. 7pm, Edge of Night at Connetquot River State Park Preserve Take in the tranquil atmosphere of the preserve as the sun sets for the evening. Enjoy a beautiful array of colors in the sky while we watch for animals that come out at the “edge of night.” Space is limited. Reservations are required. Saturday, June 19

1pm, Foraging Tour with Steve Brill: Sunken Meadow State Park Join us for a 3-hour foraging tour of Sunken Meadow State Park with Wildman Steve Brill. Meet at the benches between the Sunken Meadow Park bathhouse and the adjacent parking field, #1 and look for the library staff member holding a library umbrella. Bring bags and containers to collect your plants and berries. Please wear closed toe shoes or boots, bring water and Insect spray (optional). The parking fee is $10 per car (free for Empire Pass holders) Registration required by clicking here. Registration ends Thursday, June 17. Hauppauge Public Library cardholders only. Happy Father’s Day

1pm, Clubhouse Tour at South Side Sportsman’s Club  Connetquot River State Park Preserve Step back in time as you tour the Main House of the South Side Sportsmen’s Club. A docent will discuss the history of the tavern and the high society Sportsmen’s Club which shaped into what it is today. Space is limited. Reservations are required.
