All Day, Take & Make Craft Kit: Spaghetti Marshmallow Challenge (Gr. K-5): The kits are on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. All Day, Teen Take & Make Community Service Kit: Decorating Volunteer Project: Summer Create easy-to-make art pieces to decorate the library for promotion of our Summer reading club. (1-hour service credit) Pick up date: Monday, May 17; Project deadline: Sunday, June 6. Limit: 2 of each kit per teen. Tuesday, May 18

2pm, Hike: Avalon Nature Preserve Meet at Avalon entrance by the pond on Harbor Road and Main Street, Stony Brook. We will hike slightly over two miles on the Mill Pond Boardwalk Trail and Hilltop Meadow Orange Trail. Masks and an exercise waiver required. Participants must maintain social distance. 6pm, Battle of the Books Kickoff Party Battle of the Books (a reading trivia program for middle-schoolers) is coming soon! This summer, each participant will be asked to read six selected titles and compete against other readers for a chance to represent Hauppauge in a virtual county-wide trivia contest in August. 9am-5pm, Rental, Mortgage and Utilities Assistance Speak with a Housing Counselor or Legal Services Provider concerning COVID-19 forbearance as well as grants for mortgage payments, rental assistance and utilities. 11am, Dementia Conversations Driving, Doctor Visits, Legal & Financial Planning This program offers tips on how to have honest and caring conversations to address some of the most common issues. Topics covered in the program include: going to the doctor, deciding when to stop driving, and making legal and financial plans. 9am–2pm, S.T.O.P. Day for Town of Islip Residents Improper disposal of household hazardous waste can be harmful to our community. Bring Household Hazardous Waste directly to our Multi-Purpose Recycling Facility at 1155 Lincoln Ave, Holbrook, NY 11741. Residents are advised to remain inside their vehicles in accordance with COVID-19 regulations. Download the necessary form to bring with you here.
