All Day, Take & Make Craft Kit: Paint a Birdhouse (Gr. K-5): The kits are on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. All Day, Spring Unlimited Yard Waste Collection Start Unlimited yard waste collection will run for 5 weeks from April 19 through May 22. Please refer to your seasonal mailing card or the Town’s Information Dashboard for your spring yard waste collection day and eligibility requirements. www.islipny.gov

6:30pm, Block Island Seafood Join Craig from the Block Island Seafood Co. as he demonstrates from one of his favorite chefs…The Barefoot Contessa. 7pm, Reshaping Unconscious Bias Dr. Penny Stern from Northwell Health will illustrate the prevalence of unconscious bias and how to increase the conscious awareness of the factors influencing decision-making. 7pm, Hey Long Island – What’s Up with That? The Savvy Sightseer returns for a closer look at roadside question marks dotted around Nassau and Suffolk Counties – and tries to answer the questions: Why is that there? And Who put it there? 10am, Defining Mental Illness and Wellness The WellLife Network will look at what determines mental illness and how it functions at varying levels within individuals. Elements of positive psychology practices and how developing new habits and setting goals for healthy lifestyle choices lead to developing greater overall wellness will be discussed. 6:30pm, Bead and Button Tree Celebrate Earth Day by creating a beautiful textured tree on canvas using beads, buttons, gems and paint. Friday, April 23

10:30am, Miss Dara Sings Bug Songs Sing along with Dara Linthwaite as she plays her guitar and sings beloved songs from childhood. Young children will enjoy her stories, puppets, finger plays, and craft suggestions with a different topic to explore musically every week. Visit our YouTube channel to attend this event. 3pm, Future of Fashion Teatro Yerbabruja  will present a hands-on creative workshop, Future of Fashion, at its Second Avenue Firehouse Arts Center and Gallery in Bay Shore. Basics of fashion draping on a mannequin will be demonstrated to participants, after which they will be immersed in a creative sustainability exercise, working collectively to reuse and repurpose common items such as curtains, pillowcases, water bottles, and more, to create fashion garments. 8pm, Spring Lantern Walk Family Program at Heckscher State Park. Enjoy the park by lantern light and stop along the way to discover what nature does in the spring. 11am Seatuck Eco-Carnival 2021 will take place on Saturday, April 24 from 11am to 4pm at the Suffolk County Environmental Center at 550 South Bay Avenue in Islip.

6pm, Earth Day Open House at Teatro Yerbabruja Featuring live music and artists and fashion students showcasing earthly art and eco-friendly garments. Guests will welcome in person at the Arts Center, 17 2nd Avenue in Bay Shore, wearing required masks and adhering to social distancing (though masks, as well as hand sanitizers, will be available).
