The Hauppauge School District has released information outlining how absentee ballots will be counted for the School Budget Vote and School Board Elections on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.
On June 9, 2020, a locked ballot box will be available outside the Administration Building at 495 Hoffman Lane from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ballots will be opened in the District Office Board Room, and the canvassing of absentee ballots will be livestreamed. Instructions on how to observe will be provided on the District’s website.
In accordance with Executive Order 202.26, which requires the District to hold its school budget vote and elections by mail-in ballot, the public will not be able to be present during absentee ballot canvassing. However, the District Clerk, School Attorney, Election Inspectors, Independent Auditor, technology employees, all candidates on the ballot (or the designated poll watchers of any candidates not in the room), Board of Education members, and members of both the Hauppauge School District Administration and the Hauppauge Public Library Administration will be present. Those present will be required to wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
The District’s procedures for canvassing ballots can be found here.
