“U.S. News and World Report” Ranks Hauppauge High School As A 2020 Best High School

Hauppauge High School has earned a spot on the United States Best High Schools list in U.S. News and World Report‘s 2020 Best High School Rankings.

In the entire United States, Hauppauge High School ranked 823. Within New York State’s 1,342 high schools, Hauppauge High School ranked 76, and only four high schools in Suffolk County ranked higher than Hauppauge High School.

According to Dr. Dennis P. O’Hara, Ed.D, Superintendent of Schools, U.S. News and World Report evaluated more than 24,000 schools to calculate their rankings. Dr. O’Hara, Ed.D, states that rankings are based on college readiness, college curriculum breadth, math and reading proficiency, math and reading performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rate.

Dr. O’Hara, Ed.D, says that schools do not opt in or out of being evaluated by U.S. News and World Report. Rather, U.S. News and World Report evaluates every single public high school with a graduating class of 15 or more students. Dr. O’Hara, Ed.D, states that schools do not provide any of the data collected by U.S. News and World Report for their rankings. Instead, U.S. News and World Report gathers data directly from state education departments, College Board, and International Baccalaureate.
