Recycling Initiatives and Developments in New York State

Summary: a presentation that provides the audience with an update on recycling initiatives and developments in New
York State. Topics to be addressed include the New York State Legislature’s proposal for Enhanced Producer
Responsibility (EPR) for packaging and paper products (which make up 40% of the waste stream); a video tour of the
Winters Brothers’ recently updated Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in the Town of Brookhaven, and an overview of
the Recycle Right NY, an education and outreach campaign started by DEC and redeveloped Syracuse University.
