Grieving & healing, peer support & sharing: A FOUR-DAY DIA DE LOS MUERTOS EVENT (Day 2)
October 31, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Teatro Yerbabruja, in partnership with Latina Moms Connect and Mexican Artist Filiberto Perez, will hold its DIA DE LOS MUERTOS event from Saturday October 30 through Tuesday November 2, at its home in the historic Second Avenue Firehouse, 17 Second Avenue, in downtown Bay Shore.
DIA DE LOS MUERTOS, which originated some 3,000 years ago in Mexico as an indigenous (Aztec)
ritual to honor the dead, has evolved into an event celebrated throughout the Americas, including the
U.S., at which a community honors and celebrates those loved ones who have passed. Teatro
Yerbabruja’s Executive Director, Margarita Espada, commented: “This is a particularly poignant time to
be holding this event at our home. Last year we were restricted to a virtual event, of course, and we are
thankful that this year we can come together to help one another cope with the ravages of the pandemic.
All – and I mean all – are invited and welcome to bring a photo or something else for the altar.”
Day 2 takes place Sunday October 31st, 1:00-4:00 PM
